Last Prisoner Project’s Prison to Prosperity Reentry Services and Mentorship Program with Vangst

While a key focus of LPP is the release of cannabis prisoners, our work cannot end there. We must also ensure our constituents are able to successfully rebuild their lives post-incarceration.

Our reentry services are focused on job creation for formerly incarcerated individuals that have been affected by the criminalization of cannabis. LPP’s “Prison to Prosperity” pipeline of talent will focus on facilitating reentry of individuals impacted by the war on drugs back into society, through workshop training programs, with the goal of providing employment opportunities within the legal cannabis industry.

The program offers vocational training opportunities and educational programs specific to the cannabis industry, as well as general employability skill training. Through the program, participants are paired with trained mentors and recruiters from our program partner, Vangst, to help ensure that participants are successful in securing employment and accessing continued mentorship throughout their employment.

Imagine sitting in a cell for years, decades, or even for life, convicted of an activity that is no longer a crime, while thousands of other people build intergenerational wealth doing exactly the same thing.

That is the situation that over 40,000 cannabis prisoners face today in the United States alone, while countless others languish in jails and prisons worldwide. The Last Prisoner Project is a nonprofit coalition of cannabis industry leaders, executives, and artists dedicated to bringing restorative justice to the cannabis industry.
